A hybrid wood takes the place of your long irons, usually 3 and 4 irons.
Slimmer head design also. Some have a cross point in their degree of the club. For exampe a 7 wood is generally 21 degree or so, and a 3h is generally 20 degree.

Yeah the Hybrids just take the place of your long irons.
For example I don't have a 3 or 4 iron, I have a 17 degree 3i and a 20 degree 4i. I also have a 3 and a 5 wood, but they don't get used very often because the 31 is a longer club than the 5 and very close to the 3.
pretty much hybrids are 10 times easier to hit outta the fairway. i got a 22 degree and a 26 and they are much more easier to hit compared to the original 3 and 4 iron.
